Water Pollution

In Cambodia, access to clean water is hard to come by. Many occupants of the country drink rainwater and groundwater due to the lack of widely available clean water. This is fine during the rainy season when there is an excess of rainfall, however during the dry season, clean water is extremely difficult to come by and the lack of suitable water can often lead people to drink contaminated waters.

Interestingly enough, many Cambodian citizens actually live near or even on the rivers in lakes. There are many floating villages. Unfortunately, the water in which many citizens live atop of, or next to, is extremely polluted and discolored.

The water is mainly contaminated by human defecation as well as garbage. The lack of infrastructure does not help with preventing the severe amount of water pollution.

Weather:

Every year, there is severe flooding during monsoon season or the rainy season. This is when many citizens collect drinking water.

Interestingly enough, Cambodia also gets the other extreme, as many citizens experience extreme droughts during the dry season.
